Engineering Student YouTube Contest

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies is pleased to be holding its second Engineering Student YouTube Contest. Last year, Jessica Friesen won from the University of Manitoba and attended the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards held in Ottawa.

What the contest is all about

Engineering students are asked to submit a 2-3 minute video depicting “Why (they) want to be a consulting engineer”. The contest kicks off September 7th, 2011 at 12:00 AM EDT and ends October 5th, 2011 at 12:00 AM EDT. The student with the best video will be selected to attend the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards in Ottawa, Ontario on November 1st, 2011. The Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards is a high profile industry event attended by engineering leaders, Members of Parliament and top industry officials. The contest winner will be given the opportunity to meet all those attending the Awards and learn more about the consulting engineering industry. Airfare and 1-night’s accommodations are also included in the prize.

How can you help?

We would be grateful for your help again in promoting this contest to your engineering students as we endeavor to make students aware of the opportunities available for them after graduation. By posting the Engineering Student YouTube Contest information on your engineering society website, you will be giving one engineering student from your school the chance to meet Canadian engineering leaders.

For more information on the contest, please contact Nadine Boudreau, Communications Coordinator at 1-800-565-0569 or by email at nboudreau@acec.ca.
