There were three items for ICE: The Code of Conduct, the Inclusive Conference Planning document, and the Incident Reporting System Policy.
  • Beth: The CFES Code of Conduct has been completed and a final draft (Version 5) submitted for approval by the Board at this meeting. There’s been some good discussion and I think there is a solid consensus.
  • Beth: I had hoped to have the Inclusive Conference Planning document also available to be approved by the Board for formality’s sake; however, only one out of the six activity managers got back to me by the Oct 24 deadline (Dean, McGill CEC 2016). Dean’s efforts are appreciated; unfortunately, he and I both admit his knowledge in the area is lacking, and we were both hoping to hear from the more qualified activity managers on the topic. Kristina (Waterloo CDE 2015) and Jessica (Saskatchewan NCWIE 2014) messaged me this week, so I was able to incorporate their thoughts into the document. The document will be discussed informally at the Nov 25 BOD meeting and will be circulated on Nov 30.
  • Taylor: I have completed a rough first draft of the Incident Reporting System which I have forwarded to Anton and Beth for review tonight. With the policy manual changes I have had difficulty deciding where to add them to the manual and therefore what format to have it in. I am hoping Anton can clarify that but I think it is less necessary than the details itself as it will ultimately go before the members for approval. What is more important is the content which I would like to discuss a few details tomorrow during the Board of Directors meeting. Based on those decisions I will finalize the proposal to be sent out with the deadline as well. This is less than half a page it should also not take a significant amount of time to translate even with supporting verbiage.
Beth: I have spent the last month doing NCWiE 2014 and ICE.
NCWiE2014 was fantastic; Jessica Geddert and her team did a great job in organization and content. I was able to give the closing speech on behalf of the CFES, so I’d like to say we were well represented. We also had a lot of students request to sit at the CFES table at the networking dinner. All in all, an exceptional last NCWIE.
