On August 14th to 25th, the 4th edition of the CFES Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification course was held in partnership with Canada Post! The event took place in École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) Montréal, Québec.
But what’s Lean 6 Sigma?
It’s a process improvement program that combines two ideas:
Lean: Reduction of time and wastes needed to provide a product/service
Six Sigma: Improvement and standardization of the quality of a product/service
By combining both, Lean6Sigma is a proven project & business management strategy that helps organizations operate more efficiently.
What’s the use of the Green Belt Certification?
- Lead continuous improvement projects in your work environment
- Implement process management and/or standard work
- Solve operational problems with DMAIC
- It’s also a great competitive advantage for you to have on your resume !
Who can participate ?
Any Canadian Engineering student whose student union is affiliated to CFES! People come from coast to coast to get the opportunity to get the certification ! This year, we had 36 students from, among others, Halifax, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Quebec, etc.
Outcomes & Highlights
During those two weeks, we have classes but don’t mistake yourself, we have fun too! Apart for the fun we have in class, (because yes, the course is actually really fun to take and the teachers are great at what they do), many activities are organized to keep the participants entertained. This year, we had two pizza nights, a barbecue as well as a Karaoke night! To close everything out, we had a banquet on the last night with as guest no other than Canada Post’s General Manager of Process Engineering, Mr Ian Kerr.
