International Women in Engineering Day (INWED)
As a woman who has recently finished her fourth year of engineering, it is obvious to me and many of my peers that I am not among the majority in engineering spaces. Women studying engineering is barely above the 20% mark, and the number of licenced female engineers in Canada is a mere 13%. Recognizing this, Engineers Canada has championed a 30 by 30 initiative which has the goal of raising the percentage of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30 percent by the year 2030, which the CFES supports. This year at Summer Meeting, the focus was on preparations for President’s Meeting, finalizing our communications plan, and begin revision of our long term Strategic Plan. Most officers arrived on Friday evening to St. Brieux, 2 hours out of Saskatoon, where VP Academic Mitch Cassidy kindly hosted us at his family cabin. We were joined that night virtually by… Read More

EngiQueers Canada chapters march in Pride Parades across the nation!
On Sunday, June 25th, Engineering schools across Ontario participated in the Toronto Pride Parade – as has been tradition for the last several years. The schools that participated all have active EngiQueers Canada chapters – meaning they all host events and services throughout the school year that cater to LGBTQ+ engineering students and their allies. This year, we had the following groups march in the Toronto Pride Parade: UofT Queer Sphere Ryerson EngOUT McMaster EngiQueers Waterloo EngiQueers Western EngiQueers Carleton University EngiQueering Club (CUEC) Most schools were joined by their Engineering Societies, and a plethora of other supportive marchers.
