Lean 6 Sigma (L6S) is the combination of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, forming a methodology of systematic improvement of efficiency. This system seeks to eliminate various types of waste in processing and manufacturing industries to improve overall operation efficacy. The CFES is proud to offer a ten-day L6S Green Belt certification course provided by trainers and professionals from the Canada Post Corporation. Throughout the course, lean management theory will be studied through lecture and case study analysis. On the final day of the course, an exam is given to students to evaluate their development. A final grade of 80% is required to pass the course. After results have been confirmed, successful students will be award a Lean 6 Sigma Green Belt.
Hi everyone, my name is Allen Kaplan. I am a 4th-year Software Engineering student at the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. My strong connection to the engineering community has driven me to co-chair the annual CFES Lean 6 Sigma Green Belt certification. At L6S 2020, engineering students across Canada can become Green Belt certified over a single weekend in process improvement. I am currently the Lassonde 2020 Orientation Director and I served as the President of the Lassonde Engineering Society for the 2019/2020 year. In my free time, you’d probably find me programming, cycling, being a safety advocate or exploring Toronto.
Action Plans:
- Increase training and certification opportunities to students through a larger Lean 6 Sigma activity.
- Provide premier bilingual services to students across Canada
