Publication Cycle The Publication has now gone through an entire issue release cycle.  This involved a call for papers, a peer review of all the submissions, an editor’s final decision on each submission, and publication of the accepted papers.  Sadly, only two submissions were recieved during this publication cycle.  Of those two, only one met the peer reviewer’s collective standard of quality.  The one article has since been changed into html format and published to the website.  Due to the lack of multiple papers, this issue will not see its own collective PDF file created but rather will only link… Read More

Since my last update, I have continued to collect, sort, and forward all mail as necessary. I have re-organized and filled the Google Drive “electronic library” of bank statements. The project is now completed and simplified, and just needs to be kept up-to-date monthly. I worked actively with the VPFA in order to prepare for our financial audit for 2013-2014 with Deloitte, which is nearly complete. Additionally, I have assisted her in preparing membership fee invoices that were recently distributed. The EngCan Qualifications Board Engineer-in-Training Committee is once again active, and I participated in the committee’s teleconference last month, during… Read More

During my last update, I mentioned that I attended BEST and Engineers Canada meeting as well as coordinating the Change Lab with Engineers Without Borders. This Change Lab is going to be a good opportunity for us to discuss engineering issues and that is why we are sending one delegate to represent CFES. I have been working with Alexandra Guay on preparing herself for the Change Lab. I have been preparing the reports mail out of November 30th with the officer team and the Board of Directors, translating some documents for the Congress organization committee and coordinating operations of the… Read More

Read More

As mentioned in my previous update, the main focus of the Vice President Services portfolio has been the National Engineering Month Poster competition. Unfortunately, a lot of what is still expected of this project is dependent on who will be sponsoring the event. Engineers Canada has been supportive of the idea of the event and has expressed their interest in providing prizes for the competition, however the details of this are unconfirmed. Whichever organization supports this project will have their logo on the promotional poster of this event, and for that reason, both of the pending deliverables are not yet… Read More

Since PM, the ACES Annual General Meeting has occurred, and Hannah Klug is the new Atlantic Ambassador. I have been focused on my duties as Vice President Services since then, primarily the NEM Project. I have been doing a lot of work on the NEM Project since PM, and even more so since ACES AGM. I have contacted every provincial group about their potential involvement in the project (prizes, marketing, etc.), but I have received very little feedback from them. I am in contact with Glenn Martin, Practice Lead, Marketing and Outreach of Engineers Canada to gain their partnership in… Read More
